ABOUT OUR STUDIO
FANCI FOOTWORK was established by Natasha Shandler in 2000. We began with the vision of creating a "family feel" dance studio that would provide fun, low cost and professional dance classes to children and adults in the lower mountains area. We have grown steadily over the past 17 years and feel privilaged to be a part of so many childrens lives in the Penrith and lower mountains areas.
We create a supportive environment that is fun, nurturing and encouraging, yet still disciplined, so that the children's classes are an enjoyable and rewarding part of their weekly activities. We also take pride in nurturing those who would want to develop their dance further with examinations and teacher training through Southern Federation of Dance. We also offer a fun and fair way for those who wish to compete by taking part in the Australian Allstar Chaaer and Dance (AASCF) Competitions.
The time your child spends at FANCI FOOTWORK DANCE & CHEER will be memorable and whether they take classes for only one year or continue their dance journey for many years to come, each student will be positively influenced.
We are very proud of the professional yet nurturing feel we have at our studio. Our students refer to their teachers and friends at FFDC as their 'dance family' and thoughroughly enjoy the time they spend with each other each week. We offers a family friendly environment where students and parents feel relaxed and comfortable in their own dance studio and the Blue Mountains only Cheerleading training facility.
We offer classes in Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Cheerleading, Tumbling, Stretch & Tricks and our all boys FFD Crew. (for more details please see our 'Dance Styles' and 'Class Times' pages)
We also run fantastic fitness classes for adults with Barre Attack, Tap fitness, Adult Ballet, Stretch classes running each week....... FANCI FOOTWORK is not just for the kids!
We strongly encourage all our students to participate in Ballet in conjunction with other classes, as it helps strengthening of technique and understanding of all other styles however this is not a necessity.
During the terms one and two students will learn grade syllabus and are able to sit examinations in Jazz, Tap and Ballet through the Southern Federation of Dance (SFD). Students wishing to sit dance exams will incur some extra costs such as exam fees, exam uniforms and extra classes however, we will try to keep these costs as low as possible and staggered through the term to enable more children to take part. Learning grade syllabus and working toward an exam helps dancers to improve each year and also gain feedback on their dancing through the exam report they receive from the SFD external examiner.
Dance exams are not compulsory, however we strongly recommend all students to sit dance exams as it will definitely enhance their dancing experience, develop dancing skills, improve confidence and give them a mid-year goal. In the past our student’s dance technique has shown substantial improvement with the motivation of an exam.
FANCI FOOTWORK first established cheer in 2012 and we currently participate in the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation (AASCF) Championship Series – an organisation for all-star cheerleading coaches and athletes around the country dedicated to the promotion and advancement of cheerleading as a respected athletic discipline and sport.
Our Competitive Cheer athletes enter up to 4 competitions a year. 2014 saw our teams place 1st at the AASCF State competition and our Senior squad 2nd at AASCF Nationals...... an amazing result for our first year of competititions! 2015 was another amazing year for our FFD Cheer teams with five State Champion teams and our first National Champion title! 2016 was bigger again seeing FFDC take 5 squads, 2 dance teams and 2 stunt groups to AASCF Nationals and bringing home 3 National titles, a second place, a third place! End of the year Concert
This is a very exciting time of year! At the end of each dancing year all dance students registered with FFDC have the opportunity to perform in our end of year concert. The purpose of concert is for the students to perform in front of their family and friends and highlight the skills they have learned during the year. Concerts are optional but have proven to be the highlight of the dancing year for all our students.
Our recreational & competitive cheer teams also put on a cheer showcase in a gym environment where they can safely wow their family and friends!
It is important to us to try and keep our lesson fees, exam and costume costs to a minimum for our students and their families while still providing top notch facilities to enhance every students experience. We offer low cost professional dance and cheer lessons for students who wish to experience many styles.
the 2017 Fee packages can be found on our Times and prices page. Our packages have been designed to keep prices low for all families and class prices get lower the more classes you do.
